How to choose the best place to elope in Paris
Paris is full of little gems, small streets, little squares full of brick roads, plenty of public gardens… When you think about it, it’s very easy to get overwhelmed by all the beauty here.
I always recommend to my couples to wander in the city together as soon as they land, so they can actually discover the city
When you’re in Paris to elope, it’s a whole different story.
Paris talks to you. Through signs, noises, and vibes.
Especially if this is your first time together in the city.
You’re here for a special reason.
It seems like the universe conspire to make this happen.
I love this feeling. This is actually the reason why I started to celebrate Elopement Ceremonies in Paris.
I’ve celebrated many ceremonies in the City of Love.
Here’s my hot take on how to choose the best place to Elope in Paris.
The Eiffel Tower - Port Debilly
I can tell you : everyone thinks about the Eiffel Tower first!
But few people know (except us, wedding vendors!) that there are actually many places around the Eiffel Tower area, each one has its specialty!
We’ll go through the different ones together.
Here’s the first one : Port Debilly.
This beautiful area is actually located on the Quay of the river Seine, truly near the water.
To access it, it is very easy : when you’re in Place de Varsovie (a big roundabout on the opposite side of the Tower) if you face the Eiffel Tower, and you have the Trocadero fountain on your back, you can take either sides of the bridge, right or left, and you’ll find stairs who will take you down the quay!
This is a very popular place for Elopements in Paris, located in the 8th Arrondissement.
I love to propose it to my couples because I can see the enthusiasm right away!
It gives medium-long views on the Tower, not too near, not too far, and the river Seine also gives a touch to your photos and videos!
Here’s what it looks like :
Eiffel Tower - Trocadéro
This is another good spot for an intimate yet classy ceremony and a good go-to when you want to know where to elope in Paris.
This area is located further from the previous one in Port Debilly.
I can’t stop thinking about this recent same-sex wedding I celebrated there.
The Fountain of Warsaw, is a long basin, or water mirror, with twelve fountain creating columns of water 12 meters high!
Ideally, it’s great to have an intimate ceremony here if you plan to have some guests, it makes great photos!
The place is usually empty when the sun rises, but in the summer it can be popular, that’s why I always show up some time before the Ceremony starts so I can “block” the spot, cause unlike the other spots where you can play around and go a bit further, this one is a unique spot!
Here’s what it looks like :
Bir Hakeim Bridge - La France Renaissante
The Bir-Hakeim bridge is located about 5 minutes drive from the previous places, therefore it’s further from the Eiffel Tower.
But nonetheless, it gives stunning long-views from the Tower, and the Ceremony spot is located near a beautiful statue called “La France Renaissante”.
I like this spot because it gives some distance to my couples (everybody wants to be near the Tower but it’s not mandatory!)
I also like to start my ceremonies with some light meditation, I always close my eyes and I ask to my couples to do it as well, just to take a step together and instill some peace before starting the ceremony, that is part of my routine and I think it’s important to really add some vibes.
When the Subway passes near, it adds so much to Paris vibes!
This is a super location if you plan to have a musician with you during your ceremony. The acoustics of the little square are designed for it!
You will end up with great photos of you two, with stunning views of the Eiffel Tower.
Here’s what it looks like :
Eiffel Tower - Avenue de Camoëns
Hidden-gem Alert!
This spot has become one of the world most famous spot thanks to Instagrammers & Tiktokers!
I have to say, it’s one of the most special place to go when you think of eloping to Paris.
I’m not sure if the neighbourhood would be really happy to read this, but after all, is it really a bad thing to open your windows every morning to see lovely people having a public space Elopement Ceremony?
I love this place because its hidden, not obvious, and the stairs you take to go there are truly beautiful.
Also one of my go-to spots!
Here’s what it looks like :
Notre Dame - Quai de Montebello
This location is truly beautiful, it looks like a painting to me.
I love the postcard-style of the Notre-Dame Cathedral for an elopement ceremony in Paris.
This spot is located in the center of the city, near the Seine River, and you can see many old-style buildings in the background.
Just add up some flowers, a lovely couple, and here we are! Ready to start a ceremony!
What’s special about this place : once again, the background is amazing, and you’re few meters away from Notre-Dame!
Here’s what it looks like :
Notre-Dame - Pont Louis Philippe
Here’s an unusual spot!
One of my favourite thing to do besides preparation is leaving some space for…impro!
One of my favourite thing to do besides preparation is leaving some space for…impro!
This lovely duo’s initial location was actually…closed for refurbishing that day! Paris is always a good idea…before the unexpected occurs!
So our little team, myself & the photographers, started walking around in Paris to find another public place for our little birds.
After crossing the Louis-Philippe bridge, the Bride said : “this looks great!” and we decided to settle here for a truly uniquely intimate spot.
This was my first time in this bridge, but as you’ll see, there is plenty of bridges in Paris (actually 37!) and each one is different, with special unique views and vibes.
My suggestion is to check the most iconic ones, such as Bir Hakeim or Alexander III Bridge.
Tuileries Gardens - Louvre Area
I love public gardens in Paris.
This one is a classic spot in Paris, thanks to all the beautiful multiple spots available.
The long alley surrounded by trees and the Louvre on the back makes this space truly magic and many couples say it’s the place where they were dreaming to elope in Paris.
The sandy ground can be challenging sometimes, but it’s solemn side makes it easy to forget.
Also, this is a good place to have guests as well as Trocadero, just because I love the way pictures look like!
It’s open from very early in the morning, and it’s usually empty in the wee hours of the morning.
Truly a special place.
Here’s what it looks like :
Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel - Louvre Area
This monument is located right between the Jardin des Tuileries entrance and the Louvre Museum Pyramid.
I love it because it’s also a not-so-common place to elope.
When you’re searching for a place where to elope in Paris, this place isn’t the first place that pops up, but it can be very special and unique to you if you look for beautiful monuments, in the middle of a bunch of trees and a historical museum.
I also like the emptiness of the backgrounds, with the Louvre Museum on the outside, with its romantic alleys full of Renaissance paintings…
The Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel was built between 1806 and 1808 to commemorate Napoleon‘s military victories.
The fact that it is halfway between the Tuileries Gardens and the Louvre Museum along with the historical vibe of the architecture of the Carrousel makes it truly romantic and definitely worth a thought for your Elopement Day!
Here’s what it looks like :
Luxembourg Gardens - Medici Fountain
The Luxembourg Gardens are some of the most iconic Gardens you can find in the City of Love.
It is located in the 6th Arrondissement.
It was actually built in 1612 for Marie de Medici, Henri the IV’s widow.
It is also the actual house of the French Senate, still to this day.
In this context, you can actually imagine the amount of History going through you when you start to celebrate your union and say your vows in this particular space.
I like to go to the Medici Fountain because of the relax and calm sound of the water fountains behind us, when we’re lucky enough to have some sun lights coming all over us, this is truly one of my favourite spot !
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet...
Another not-so-common place! This Garden is located in the 5th Arrondissement and it’s one of my go-to places for couples who are asking me for some “non-cliché” place (yes, these couples exists!)
I love the Jardin des Plantes, in fact I have a special relationship with this place because I used to actually play there back a million years ago, when I was a kid!
This warm and green area is full of different species of flowers (the name actually translates to “Flower’s Garden”) and you’ll find some colorful alleys to have a walk, right after your vows!
Montmartre - The Sacré-Coeur
Let’s go back to one of the most iconic places in Paris : Montmartre.
This area is located in the 18th Arrondissement.
Very famous for its arty vibes (Picasso and Modigliani actually lived there), it’s one of the highest areas in Paris. In fact, if you decide to go there walking, you’d have to take a 222-steps stair!
On top of Montmartre, plenty of small typical streets full of artists ready to do a portrait of you in less than 5 minutes.
There’s also the Sacré-Coeur Basilique, a beautiflully located monument, that I do recommend to see once!
Near the Basilique, there’s one more little Parisian garden, and this is where we can catch the best views of the Sacré-Coeur.
Near the Basilique, there’s one more little Parisian garden, and this is where we can catch the best views of the Sacré-Coeur.
Here’s some sweet memory of it :
Palais-Royal Gardens
Here’s some other special place, we never lack of it here!
The Palais Royal is a former royal palace actually located in the very heart of Paris, the 1st Arrondissement.
Originally built by the famous architect Jacques Lemercier especially for the Cardinal de Richelieu, nowadays this place is the center of the Ministry of Culture and the Conseil d’Etat, two governments institutions.
Coming back to the Elopement tips, this area is located near the Louvre and can be useful in case of a rainstorm as it is a covered area!
You can also have a photo session in the Louvre right after.
A few words about safety
Paris is generally a safe city.
However, touristic places can be prone to pickpockets and small-time thieves.
Like any other place, the best advice is always “better safe than sorry”
Here’s a few rules to always remember when you’re eloping :
- On your Elopement day, just take the minimum necessary : your hotel keys, only a bit of cash, your outfit, the rings, and your bouquet! Your vendors team will have your back to hold anything if needed during your photoshoot.
- Take a cab from an app, don’t rely on getting one directly in the streets, as they can sometimes be fake cabs.
- Put your passport into the safe of your hotel room or directly at the Reception Desk.
Where to elope in Paris? Final thoughts
It is always hard to choose a spot, especially when it is an important day for both of you!
I always send out ideas and photos for you to see what it actually is to have your ceremony in each spot, as you can see everyone is different, each has its own details and vibes, but in the end, the choice belongs to you.
In case one of the spots is appealing, I’m happy to help you to start planning you ceremony today!
